Ham and Cheese Stromboli

This Stromboli is super simple and delicious. Just a few pantry staples, pizza dough and voila. A tasty dinner that even the pickiest of eaters will devour. Perfect for movie night, game day, snuggling by the fire, or a flying out the door on the way to practice and need to eat in the car evening.

Grab some pizza dough (I like the Trader Joe’s ones because I can stick them in the freezer) and get rolling!

Recipe

  • 1 pizza dough package
  • 4 TBS garlic aioli mustard / honey mustard / spicy mustard – whatever your preference!
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese – shredded
  • 1 cup cheese of your choice – shredded
  • 6 slices of deli ham (or turkey/roast beef/bologna)

Preheat oven to 450, and sprinkle a large cookie sheet with cornmeal. You can use flour, but this has a tendency to burn so I prefer cornmeal.

Roll out your pizza dough into a round shape about 10-12″ across. Smear with mustard across the dough, stopping about 1/2 inch from the edges. Layer your ham width wise across the dough and top with cheeses. Starting with the side nearest to you, roll the dough lengthwise – think of a cinnamon roll – and continue rolling until you have a nice log of dough. Pinch the ends shut and place on a cookie sheet seam side down. Cut three slits in the top to vent, and pop in the oven!

Optional – you can brush with an egg wash to create a nice golden top layer. Sometimes I do this, and sometimes I don’t. Just depends on personal preference.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bottom is golden and vents are bubbly.

Let sit for 5 minutes then slice and enjoy!

Bon Appetit!
