Hi! Welcome to the Faux Gourmand. That’s me – Hilary. I’m a wife, mama, writer, marketer and amateur cook. I named this site Faux Gourmand to A. stress that I’m not a classically trained chef (unless you count watching your Mom and reading cookbooks) and B. have some fun with the name! Double entendres are some of my favorite writing “things.” That’s what I’m hoping to achieve with this name. I’m not a glutton and I’m not a foodie – at least not all the time. Sometimes I might want to stuff my face and other times I may want to pretend to be a regular at the French Laundry, Joel Robuchon, PierLuigi or Ballato’s sipping some bubbly and rubbing shoulders with awesome chefs. Mostly, I just pretend to make fabulous meals for my pretty awesome hubby and kids. Luckily they indulge me..for the most part.
Hopefully, you’ll get some useful recipes, learn a little, laugh at my failures (as I do!) and be entertained. I cook a lot with “a little bit of this, and a little bit of that”, so feel free to alter these recipes as you see fit! Again, I’m not a trained chef, but I love to cook – and write – so here I am.
